Edwin Baru is a partner in Bowmans' Projects, Energy & Infrastructure Department in Nairobi. He advises sponsors, lenders, development finance institutions and government entities on the development, financing, acquisition and restructuring of energy, infrastructure and public-private partnership (PPP) projects across Kenya and the wider East African region. Much of Edwin's work sits at the intersection of power and infrastructure on which digital growth depends — the reliable generation, grid connection, land, water and regulatory approvals that determine whether a data centre can be built and powered. He has extensive experience in renewable and industrial power, including solar, geothermal and captive (C&I) power, and advises on procurement structures such as open access and wheeling that are increasingly central to how large loads secure clean, firm electricity. Edwin's wider mandates span water, mining and large-scale infrastructure, covering project and concession agreements, PPP structures, regulatory approvals, land and access arrangements and financing documentation. He is recognised for delivering practical, implementable solutions in evolving regulatory environments, and is ranked by Chambers Global, Legal 500 and IFLR1000 for his work in projects and energy
